Front Street is proud to announce a nationwide open call for artists to submit original works for 'Life in the City,' an urban-themed exhibition that will go on display at Front Street's Experience Gallery on August 2nd. The opening is timed to coincide with Downtown Dayton's Art in the City event the same day, and will remain on display through August 18.
The pieces in the juried show, Front Street's first, will be selected by Nicholas Arnold, gallery coordinator for The University of Dayton and co-director of The Blue House Gallery, and a $250 cash prize will be awarded to the audience favorite as voted by visitors on August 2. Both two- and three- dimensional works will be accepted; artists may enter up to two original works, at a fee of $25 each.
"Front Street's 'Life in the City' exhibit strives to showcase original artwork from artists all over the U.S. who are inspired by urban architecture or modern urban lifestyle," the entry call reads, "The spectrum of submissions may range from straightforward presentation of a photograph to conceptual pieces that distill the hustle and bustle of everyday life into a single, abstract image. For this call, Front Street is looking for entries of recent art made by artists currently working in any region of any state, fitting the exhibit's vision."
"I'm looking for creative, original, and quality works that showcase contemporary aesthetics and concepts related to the idea of 'Life in the City,' Arnold said. It's an honor to be the juror of the new Front Street's first juried exhibition, and I'm very excited to be working with such a great team of creative individuals."
Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on June 28. The complete call for entries, including registration, fee payment, and shipping details, is available below.
